At Sunset Grill, we believe in families, vacations and most of all we believe in working hard so we can play hard. It is not just a job with a paycheque every two weeks, it’s a philosophy.

With a one-shift operation, we have a very low staff turnover in our restaurants. This is all thanks to the fact that we are a niche business – we serve breakfast and lunch, we do it extremely well and we go home. It is that simple.

About Our Positions

We always welcome resumes for cooks, dishwashers, servers, and various support staff. To apply, please contact the restaurant directly. Servers

  • Greet guests and make them feel comfortable
  • Learn menu items and be able to describe them appropriately to guests
  • Take beverage and food orders
  • Deliver beverages and food in a timely manner
  • Check in with guests to ensure that everything is going well
  • Clear dirty dishes from table
  • Refill beverages throughout the meal
  • Deliver guest’s bill and thank them for dining at the restaurant
  • Work with other servers and be a team player
  • Set up your waitressing section
  • Stock server station
  • Clean your server section
  • Closing side work after your shift

Hostess/Host

  • Greet guests and patrons personally
  • Offer appropriate seating arrangements
  • Present menus and take orders
  • Ensure the quantity of menus is sufficient to cater to the number of guests
  • Set up dining rooms
  • Maintain clean and organized tables and work area
  • Assist servers and bus people when /as needed

Busser

  • Clean tables
  • Remove soiled dishware, glassware and flatware and deliver it to the dish washer area
  • Clean and polish counters and furniture and mop and sweep floors
  • Clean up spilled food and ensure that floors and counter surfaces are cleaned
  • Keep an eye out for customers looking for service and assist them with their queries
  • Make sure that the restaurant area is clean at all times
  • Stock serving areas with items such as napkins, ketchup, and extra sets of flatware
  • Clean and organize dishes in the kitchen and expedite orders on request from waiters and servers
  • Assist in clearing tables after each course and bussing them with fresh plates and glasses

Line Cook

  • Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare for service
  • Prepare a variety of foods
  • Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes
  • Cover, date and correctly store all food prep items
  • Notify Owner in advance of likely shortages
  • Serve menu items compliant with established standards
  • Use food preparation tools in accordance with recipe manual
  • Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times
  • Keep the work area clean throughout the shift
  • Ensure grills, stove top, steamer, walk-in cooler and freezers are clean and ready for use
  • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
  • Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices

Prep Cook

  • Chop vegetables and fruits to specifications stated in manuals
  • Prepare meat for cooking by slicing and cutting appropriately
  • Prepare ingredients as instructed
  • Ensure grills, stove top, steamer, walk-in cooler and freezers are clean and ready for use
  • Clean kitchen counters and other work areas
  • Wash dishes and cooking utensils
  • Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
  • Consistently use safe and hygienic food handling practices

Dishwasher

  • Collect soiled dishes from dining areas and transport them to the kitchen
  • Ensure that soiled dishes are stacked properly so that they can be picked easily for washing purposes
  • Clean dishes and flatware with water in order to clear them of dirt
  • Soap down dishes and ensure that they are rinsed properly
  • Place washed dishware and flatware on drying racks
  • Load soap and water into dishwashers
  • Place dishes appropriately in the dishwasher
  • Remove washed dishes from the dishwasher
  • Stack dishes properly in cupboards
  • Sweep kitchen floor and take trash out
  • Ensure that the kitchen floor is properly sanitized
  • Ensure that all dish cleaning equipment and supplies are stocked properly
  • Assist kitchen staff with food preparation duties when needed
